on the road again....
I'm about to list my 2014 LC. It has 59,000 miles and is in mint condition. I've never even had it off road yet.

I know upgrades don't sell for much so I'm trying to figure out a price. I have arb lockers, 4:88 gears, and a BP 51 suspension
40 gallon aux tank, set of 6 TRD Rock Warrior wheels and new K3 tires. Budbuilt skids and sliders.

Also a IBS dual battery setup. Got just about everything done so far except bumpers and winch.
So my question is.....What do upgrades usually bring? 25% of what I originally paid?

I have read discussions about it here but have forgotten.

Decided I might sell mine since I never drive it. Regret I have never even had it off road....

Thanks gang,
Jim

PS forgot to add it has a snorkel also

It's white and tan interior. I'll have to take some photos. Never bothered.
I'm meeting with some people to decide a price. I kept all my upgrades of high quality and done by a Land Cruiser specialist.
So I'm figuring out a fair price

From what I know of his LX, someone is going to get a REALLY nice rig with top notch (and expensive) mods.

Fair price is for the buyer. If there is no hurry to sell it, ask what you want for it. I don't agree with 25% for after market components, that doesn't count for installation costs. I would use as a base an online pricing guide, Kelly Blue Book, then price the upgrades where you think they should be that you can live with. Just my $.02.

On a side note, had a guy walk up to me at a car show and made me an offer for my FJ 40 (picture in my avitar), I threw him a number and he came back with a bag of cash!!! Must have been a fair price for him!!!

This is what I am working with.....just for your info and the sake of being up front about the situation.

I Bought it for $54,000. a couple of years ago. Put a little over 1200 miles on it since I got it.

As soon as I drove it and went over it and saw it was truly mint I assumed it was a soccer Mom's or just a guys that worked in the office. Had just plain radials on it and obviously had not been off road. Tracks straight as an arrow and It didn't have a scratch and looked new inside and out. My friends think it is new when they get in it. :)) So it really is in good shape.

Since then I have seen a lot of Land Cruisers about the same age and older with more miles. They all hold up really well. Seat cushions don't develop sag and paint holds up. Probably telling you things you have already learned. But that is why I love Land cruisers.

I traded a 150,000 dolllar rare Porsche......the guy that owned the dealership was a Porsche nut so I dealt with him. Then got money back to put in the build. As some of the guys here know I have a Porsche collection.

So far I have put approximately $18,000 in it for labor and parts. I'm still looking for all my receipts but I think that is fairly accurate. Of course I don't expect to recoup my whole investment, so that is why I have ask other friends and my mechanic to help me find a fair price.

Thought I'd give you the history . KBB seems to be $43,000- $45,000 for stock. Just have to factor in what I can accept for the upgrades....it was a bitch getting 6 TRD Rock Warriors in perfect condition. Had to pay $321 apiece. :( The BF goodrich K3 tires are awesome too and I plan on putting them on my next vehicle..... they have about 50 miles on them right now.

Thanks for the interest,
Jim

no..no rust at all....Mine is in mint condition. Not even a scratch. Most people think it is new.
At this point various people say I should price it around $60,000- maybe $65,000 . I Paid $55,000 and put about $20,000 in it.

You may be able to do better than average due to there being very few on the market due to the recall and Toyota having dealers hold used and new series 200's. That said you also need to disclose there is an open recall on the truck.

I think most people would see the recall and how minor it is. .........Just having airbags checked or replaced. Not a major problem.

Most peoples dealers contact them about recalls. Mine did a while back. They have kept in touch and also just checked to see if I have been happy with my purchase.
Good people.....maybe I was lucky.

Good people.....maybe I was lucky. But my companies and political connections are well known here so that could also have something to do with it.

My dealer has been the complete opposite. But what I wanted to point out is that the recall has removed vehicles from the marketplace. I looked at a few before I bought mine. I know there are less for sale now than there were 6-8 months ago. As for the recall being minor. That depends on if you have an accident and how much you like the passenger. I am not well connected. Maybe I need to become a politician.

yeah good point. I have been keeping an eye on Ebay and Craiglist because so many government employees are selling things just to stay afloat. I wouldn't mind picking up a couple of Land Cruisers or even other vehicles if they were a really good price.....and I have heard of some lately. I am watching because it will get worse and reach the point they unload everything unfortunately. It's sad
