question about cruise control

I'm not sure one was designed to cruise 40mph up the hill and 60mph down the hill. 
Current model only I believe
Pretty sure you need an ECU for a feature like that. Don't think any HD 70 series had an ECU until the HDJ7X came along fitted with the 1HDFTE
Looking back at some posts from 4WDAction forums, apparently the ECU in the HDJ78/79 series was not designed for cruise control, although the 100 series with 1HD FTE was.

From the mid-1990s on, some 70 Series had two ECUs, one for engine control (1FZ-FE and 1HD-FTE engines) and one for 4WD control. The latter checked the hubs (power hub models only) and lockers, and increased engine idle speed a little bit in H4/L4, for better off road handling. Models with 1HZ and 1FZ-F engines had no ECUs.
No cruise control, at least not until current models.
I remember a thread about a home made cruise control system for a 1985/6 (not sure about model year) BJ73.
