Hi

Can anyone tell me if side view mirrors for the more modern HZJ76/GRJ76 (part numbers 87940-60C90 and 87910-60F00) could possibly fit the older PZJ77/HZJ77? If not, do you know of other currently available parts which would?

I believe the part numbers for the original electric side view mirrors for my truck (1991 PZJ77V-MNS) were 87910-60290 and 87940-60230.

Thanks!

Hello,

Mirrors have not changed much over the years. So yes, newer model mirrors fit older mirror mounts.

However, there is a problem. 77 Series trucks are 24V. 76 Series are 12V. The extra current may fry the electricals.

So the new mirrors will fit the old mounts but the new mounts will not necessarily fit my old door profiles?

The old 24V motors still work fine and I can manage the motor swap if they are mechanically compatible with the new mirrors.

Thanks,

Hello,

Door profiles have not changed over the years. A newer model mirror will fit in an older door.

If you can swap the electrical bits, then there is no problem in using a 76 Series mirror set.

I swapped motors for my HZJ77 into a new set of electrical 76 mirrors and it is no easy feat. Perhaps you are better at this than I was. It is tricky to get it all lined up and pop that mirror back into place. In the end I got it all to work properly but it isn't something I would want to do again.

I don't think Toyota ever intended for these mirror assemblies to be serviceable.

Later on I decided on brand new manual mirrors just because I like the solid black color overall.
