Purchasing advice help!.

I'm going to go checking a bj70. Does anyone has a check list kind of thing, pre purchase process things to look for vin # location.etc.
What should I be looking for engine wise?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Happy cruising...

On my RHD BJ74 the vin is on a metal plate attached the the firewall near the left hood hinge.
Rust would be my first concern. Look under darpets and underneath the vehicle.
Almosr every component under the hood on mine has some rust; a lot of it just looks bad, not a structural problem.
