**UPDATE**

This is not looking good.....
About a month ago my car started having an issue with hesitation / missfire.

It started out only when it was cold, and i decided to run some injector cleaner to rule out water or bad gas. I drove a 450 mile round trip and should have cleaned out any contaminates. It just progressively got worse but never threw a code.

Since this isn't my DD anymore it sees only about 15K a year (or less) I tried to rule out any plug issues. But it finally gave me a code PO302.
I had had Toyota do a service about 6 months after my plug install and it included new plugs. I informed them I had just done them and didn't need new plugs.
I don't know if they changed them anyway but will soon find out.

IMO plugs shouldn't go bad in a year, hell if it would have been my DD they wold have gone bad in 6 months!

When I pull them out I'll take pictures and report back my findings. I'm still hopeful that these plugs are fine. But it's not looking good.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Dean

Well I got my other project running and had some time to investigate my problem. The number 2 spark plug coil pack has a crack along the seam!
I'll get a new one and see if I have any problems.

^ Thats not my problem got another p0302 code. yanked the plug out slapped in one of my old plugs I still had laying around and problem solved.
I'll get a new set of factory plugs and be done.

Remember the pulstar plugs that I was running was a factory second. He told me to stop by if I had any problems. Not sure what to think at this point, they seemed to be pretty good with improved low end acceleration. slight improvement in fuel economy. Not really sure I'd drop 200 bucks for these tho.
Anyone want to give these low mileage plugs a try? You'll need to replace one! :D

*Final Update* Since the replacement of my coil pack and I used one of my original plugs. I experienced no problems. Until two weeks ago when we were driving back home after an evening in town. The temperature was quite cool, and the cruiser started misfiring while climbing a slight grade. (all the way home ~ 5.5k to 7.2K ft)

It never threw a code and I wasn't about to wait this time. I think when I let it go last time it took out my coil pack. So I called NAPA, and all the other parts stores to get the proper plugs, to find no one stocks them.
Anyone else experience this? They all wanted to sell me a different NGK plug. I quickly passed as I don't want to be doing this again.
C-Dan is local so I waited until Monday.

I've lost track of actual mileage but it's no more than 30K.
I'll try to dig up some mileage info to post some solid facts, but it's not looking good.

In short, I think the plugs failure could be caused by the heat from our deeply recessed plugs. It would be interesting to see how they work on conventional heads with exposed plugs.
