Hi guys someone wants to buy my PTO winch to go in his 40series. He said he is pretty handy with the tools and said he will remove but i remember something about a spacer in the gearbox once its out? I cant find the info now.

Also what do you think they are worth? Prefer Aussie opinions on that one.

Cheers

Ive seen a few out of JDM 60 series go for about a $1000 or just under. With the proliferstion of cheap chinese electric winches they are not so valueable .
The PTO can go for $500 on its own

What do you think of 650? Or should i ask for more. Its got a new fairlead too

Any info on the spacer, or what happens to the hole is appreciated

Do you mean the spacer between the PTO gear and the input gear? I thought you would have left them as they are and just put the cover back on but I have never taken one off.

I think the PTO and wihch is worth much more, they are top quality.
But a lot of people say they are too slow.
$650 is a bargain for him,if he complains ,stick it in the Quokka

cheers rosco.

Yeah i am just wandering i read somewhere on this forum about putting a spacer somewhere once its removed. But if i can just put a cover over it then thats fine.

Yeah he is still unsure about it because it is going into a 40series, i might as well whack it in the quokka for 800 900 or so see if anyone wants one.

Im not sure if the cover will go on with the PTO gear still in there. Maybe this is why you need a spacer between the cover and transfer case.
In the FSM it looks like you wouldnt need a spacer:confused:

Anyone??

The PTO gear does not interfere with the cover plate.
The spacer he is referring to is the chunk of pipe used in absence of a PTO gear on the output shaft.
If you pull the gear and have no spacer to replace it with, you can't tighten the nut up against Tcase input gear.

thanks 70s guy. Its still sitting around the garage so i havnt drained the box and had a look yet ive just left the running gear and shafts on the truck still.

- The transfer case needs to be taken apart to remove the gear.

- You will need the correct spacer to re-assemble your transfer case. PTO gears exist in most 60 series trucks, I probably have few here in boxes underneath stuff in the shop.

- The PTO gear box will only work with split transfer case.

- The PTO winch and related parts has a value of about $900 - $1000.

- Chinese winches are a mixed lot as far as quality and performance goes: pay your money, take your chances. If you want a winch for your 24V Land Cruiser, spend the money and get a good one.
