I'm selling a PTO winch for a FJ40. I think it was off a 1970. I never used it and am selling it as is with no warranty. The previous owner removed it to install a electric winch. Just before doing so he replaced the winch line and said he never tensioned it. Its almost a complete set up, it just missinf the pillow block that mount to the frame, what evert the shifter pivots, or mounts to.

It does have the PTO gear box, winch, drive shaft, and shifter. If it has 2 drive shafts, I have them both, just can't remember if its 1 or 2 right now.

$600 buyer pays and arrange shipping through freightquote.com.

$50 discount if you come and get it.

I'll post pics soon.

does all OEM pto winch match all models of cruisers?

NO! FJ40/45/55 winches are common (except for driveshaft lengths and mountings) all the way for single piece transfer cases but many 4 speed transfer cases do not have the PTO drive gear. The PTO winches for the '60 series split cases are different and the two cannot be interchanged.

The spool heads for the 40/45 and I believe the 55 are the same. The 40/45 frames have a hanger for the pillow block, I believe that some but not all 55 frames have the hanger. There are two drive lines, a short one from the spool to the pillow block (the pillow block is really an integrated component of the short one) and a longer one from the block to the PTO gear box. The PTO gearboxes vary from old skool to split case, the split case PTO boxes being harder to find. The length of the longer shaft varies depending on your setup and can be lengthened/shortened to work.

You should inspect the worm drive case on the spool head for cracking at the feet (where the worm drive connects to the angle iron. You should also check the fit of the flange on the short one to the input side of the worm gear for excessive play.

It is likely that your Tcase will have the PTO gear if it is an old skool case, and unlikely if it is a split case, although not hard to get, just $. The lever to operate the gearbox is mounted to a pivot that threads into the side of the transmission, also not hard to get. There are lots of little bits that go with the PTO, e.g. shims between the frame and the angle iron, the shift lever cover, hand throttle, etc. which are nice to have but not essential to run the winch.
