I need to replace the power take off (PTO) seal on my BJ70 that the propeller shaft of the winch connects into. There is a drain plug at the bottom of the PTO case but I'm not clear on wear the filler plug is located ...is it the plug on the rear side of the PTO where the case is protruded outward? If there is a separate drain plug for the PTO does this mean it is separate from the transfer case? This is not clear to me.

there isn't much oil in them mate I just undo the 6 bolts that fix the pto to the transfercase and remove them with the oil still inside without any problems, the pto has a separate filler and drain but they are also splash fed from the transfercase

Okay, that makes a bit more sense now. Sounds like I could get away with just draining the PTO side and then topping it up after the new seal is in. I think I'll still check the transfer level to make sure it's good.
