Sorry I haven't responded immediately. Work and responsibilities at home keep me occupied in other ways... unfortunately.
As far as the jack stand damage, it apprears that the center post (?) twisted and then bent over. It looks to be a cast part so I would have expected it to actually break rather than twist. It was also only a 3 ton jack stand. Too small for the job really, but I only had one corner of the vehicle up at the time and figured that it would be enough for the time being. I have already tossed out the jack stand so I can't provide pics. I'm just going to be upgrading to 6 or 8 ton jack stands and a larger jack. Mine is a 2.5 ton jack but I'm going to get something bigger before I have problems with it too. They were just a generic no-name set of jack stands so I can't really tell anyone what brand they were. I had had them for about 16 years and used them without any problems up to this point.
