What is one to do with those little 16.4 oz nonrefillable (camping style) propane bottles after they are drained?
In the past I've always just chucked them out with the garbage, but there must be some place that recycles them somehow someway?

Yah you can refill them. Google it. Not quite kosher but IMOP safe enough.

I would do it. But thats me and is not a recommendation to do something your not comfortable with and might be semi illegal.....

I'm sure Transport Canada says a similar thing as the US dot. But honestly if you leak check the bottle after to make sure it is leak free and maybe be use them for a couple minutes each to make sure they are not over full before going camping I would think that they are going to be safe. What people worry about is that they are over full and might vent propane into the truck of your car on a hot day. So like I said, use a little before you pack it away.

Leak check with a soapy water. If there is gas leaking it will bubble up. Don't leak check with a lighter and be a Darwin Boy.
