Bought an '83 Longbed a month ago off Craigslist with a bad engine. The original thread when I bought it was a bit chatty, but there was decent discussion around the cost vs/ effectiveness of building a mini vs. an 80, so I'm not going to moderate that thread and clean it up. The original thread was over here.
It was a gamble as it sounded like a bad timing chain, but a couple weeks ago I pulled the head and was able to push the number 2 piston down 1/2" with my finger
I sent the engine off to a machinist for inspection and it needs a crank, some cracks in the block welded and significant head work. So now I'm looking for an 83 or 84 22r that's a decent runner.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, plans include:
35's
dual cases with 4.7 in the rear
unbobbed longbed with a shell/topper
armored up
CB + 2m ham
maybe an interior roll cage.
