I rescued a '76 FJ55 a couple months ago (previous posting--white, roof rack and front winch bar--I don't have photos on this computer but will transfer some soon!). It's currently hibernating until spring...

I checked on it today and rescued the Downey (Holley) carb that was on the front floor...

So I didn't know these things were equipped with an engine crank?? I Found it under the rear bench! I've had a few FJ40s and didn't think the newer US versions came with hand cranks. Well, it made my day anyway...

What you have found may be the spare tire crank that fits into a slot above the rear bumper.

...and in the slot in the front valance underneath the grill. Anybody ever actually crank one up this way?

I like how toyota incorporates the idea of dual usage into their tools. I have not been able to get it to go over by hand, but hear from some of the guys here that it is doable. that's one nice thing about low compression.

All i can think of is a broken wrist/forearm....

Anyway, it makes sense that the FJ40 didn't really come with one if it doubles as a spare tire crank, although at one point (early models?) I think they may have... It might be useful for a valve adjustment??
