No the truck has the h1 on it and the motor that I will be getting from Sheldon has the h55 on it.

I noticed there's a rear bumper in you pic. What's it like? Post some pics of it when you find some time. I'm trying to work something out for my rig. Does anyone know if there was every a factory rear bumper for the 45's? There are some pics in the SOR catalogue of a late-model 45 running something similar to the 40's bumperettes. They look really clean. Has anyone run across something like this?

The bumper that it has on it came with it and I will be making a new one for it later but as you asked for here is a photo of it and a brif discription. it is a chanel welded to two other chanels that are welded to the frame. The bumperettes that you mention look clean & cool but do not seem to offer much protection though.

Somebody else asked here the difference between the HJ45 and HJ47 but I can't find the thread. HJ45 = H 3.6L diesel, HJ47 = 2H 3.9L diesel.

yep, hj45's rock (just had to say it)

didn't the guy above say it was a 4 cyl diesel ("( if 4cyl. is good then 6cyl. must be better ) ") that'd make it a Bj45..... and if it was a 4 cyl diesel, your input shafts on the gearbox are different to those behind a 6cyl (4 cyl has longer input shaft if i remember correctly) so keeping the 4 speed might not be an option, unless you rebuild it with a 6 cylinder input shaft (might be able to use the shaft from a US 4 speed but don't quote me on it)

good luck

Can the parking break mounted on the t-case be transferd from one t-case to another or is the shaft comming out the back of the case bult with a non removable flange so depending on what t-case one has will deturmin if it will have this type of break or not?

Nice. Gulf spec, huh? See if the ID plate is in Arabic.

It should already has a split transfer case if it came with a 4 speed, and you may even be able to keep the parking brake as it is. The H55f started in 10/82 and the transfer is the same between the 4 speed and the 5 speed. In 1983 only the 3 speed got the older style non split case.

BTW, it should be an HJ47, not an HJ45 since the 2H replaced the H in 1981. So, change your name to HJ47LP already :D

also don't wish to be a party pooper, but all the 45's and 47's i have ever seen in aus didn't have power steering... might not be lucky enough to see one with it though

The truck that I bought is a FJ45LP-K what is the -k for? it has power stearing and a 2F with a H1 and Ff rear end. The reason I was calling this project a HJ45 is becouse the motor that I am replacing the 2f & h1 with is a 12H-T & H55. with 115,000 miles on it from it's donor HJ61. I did not want the 4cyc B series motor and that is why I said that if 4 is good then 6 must be better
}:-) The plate is in English & Japanese with the only Airibic I found on it is a sticker on the windshild. I am going to need to get used to the Km on the speedo.{:-) Yes I do need to change the name that I am going by but no longer able to do this my self I will need to coax a moderator to do this for me (hint, hint) }:-)

Yes, when they went from the F to the 2F for some reason the model number did not change (or a lot of us would be driving FJ41's :) )

U = 3 speed
K = 4 speed
M = 5 speed

You'd be happy with the 12HT. Keep the name, I was just kidding (but actually a W that comes after the hyphen means it is a European market vehicle)

{:-) I thought I was getting a 45 Long Wheel base so came the lw. I saw your Ff with factory disks and yes the drool factor is high on this end. I do not think that this 45 has front discs{:-( yet alone rear. Perhaps disks on all four will be part of this project.

oh, ok i'm with the engine now...

yeah, 12h-t should even fit with stock engine mounts.

would have thought a post 81 would have had front disks, but again i only go on what i've seen in aust.

AFAIK no 45(L)PB (long beds) had a stock rear bumper, the short beds used fj40 bumperetees.

Marv has some Saudi 45/7's comeing in with PS and AC, owned by some royal family or something.

I think most the gulf spec and SA spec 45/7 had front drums. heck you could even get a 60/2 with drums!
