I'm considering getting bio-diesel going here in Guatemala but I've never done it and never seen it done. Is anyone doing it that wouldn't mine a visit? I'll be in Vancouver in mid-July.

We looked into it a couple of years ago and I concluded that, because it is a smelly and messy process, its not too practical to do in the city. If you live in a rural area, and have a utility shed out back for all the crap, then it can be done. I think its more practical to have an old mini-econo-beater gasoline car for the city, then just drive the Cruiser occassionally on runs using regular diesel fuel. Of course, if commercial fuel becomes unavailable, then bio-diesel takes on more importance. I also think that the current oil price bubble is driven at least partly by speculators and it will pop and prices will moderate somewhat, that is, until the next time. Everything now is manipulated; we never know for sure what is around the next corner until we smash into it.
