So I dont' know if it is just me but I get a lot of problems when trying to load threads on Mud. the biggest problems occur when loading pictures. I have to reload pages sometimes three times and then the pictures only appear half way decent. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Last few months MUD has been hell slow loading on my computer, mainly when there is a lot of users online.

I dont have a real fast broadband connection but all the other 4wd forums are loading as fast as usual, just MUD has slowed down for me.

Any ideas Woody?

haven't had any issues on my end....I did load new virus/firewall software tho on my new laptop and noticed that things were a tad slower....quickens up when I turn it off....

So this is what the pages sometimes look like. The first time it loaded there was nothing but a white screen, the refreshed and got this. I use Mozilla and Safari, it does it on both.

I've had occasional similar issues...ended up being a setting with the router....you wouldn't happen to be using a Netgear, would you? Very common for those....

yes using a net gear, what do you have to change?

I have also had similar problems over the past few months. Pictures load w wide bands of opaque stips blocking 2/3rd's or more of a picture here and there. Sometimes hitting RELOAD 5 or 6 times in IE will finally produce the full set of pictures in the thread - most times not. Recently, went back to an old thread I had printed out - WITH the opaque bands blocking the pic - and found to my surprise that this time it displayed the picture correctly!

Got worse when work IT upgraded the browser to IE 7. Now, in addition to the pictures having frequent opaque bands, the entire thread will not display - shows an error msg that the web page does not exist.... - and when I hit RELOAD a 2nd time it then displays the thread.... This means EVERY time I want to load a new thread I have to select it, essentially, twice.

I have seen this bahavior on several pc's and on one other members computer while looking at IH*MUD. I have seen this behavior on MUD from DSL service as well as the fast internet connections at work, in hotels and WIFI spots It's good to know it's not just my setup! BTW - I have visited other sites w similar forums and threads and pictures and I have NOT had this trouble.

Any suggestions??

a quick search on Netgear routers, both here in the HELP section as well as on Google, will show many issues with their latest firmware version

no clue why it's inconsistent, but it's a known problem
