I recently removed the AHC from my LX470. If you love the AHC system, I already know your opinion so save your breath. This post is for someone like me who was searching for a pro–AHC removal perspective.

I’m sure that when AHC is functioning properly, it rides great. I’m not convinced I ever experienced that, so I can’t really speak to it. What I can say is that with a blown pump, it rode like s***—barely drivable. Even my four-year-old would comment on how “bumpy it always is.”

I replaced it with an Old Man Emu basic 2-inch kit with new torsion bars, springs, and related components. WOW what a difference! If you’re thinking about doing it, just do it. I didn’t necessarily want or need a lift, but it was the most straightforward setup to source.

Does a perfectly functioning AHC ride better? Probably. Would I personally notice a meaningful difference? I’m not sure. But eliminating the maintenance concerns and the uncertainty around aging system components is well worth any potential ride-quality tradeoff—in my opinion.

Just putting this out there for anyone who might be looking for this perspective.

Same here, I bought my LX with the AHC deleted. I started with the Ironman kit and graduated to Dobinsons MRR shocks and springs. I kept the Ironman torsion bars.

PS. You hit the trails over in Inverness?

Yep, kind of the way to go.
And it sounds like your globes were shot. Even with mine on the stiffest sport setting mine rides fine. Like my FRS's stock suspension.

So does one in working condition ride better. YES. And there is a meaningful difference. (at least to my a**)
I have also helped drive a friends "new" 100 we picked up in San Antonio back to lower Michigan. That one has a Ironman 2" lift.
His other one that is bone stock.

But its not enough of a difference for most people IMO to keep the system up to date and refreshed when new parts are needed. Especially if you don't really care about suspension.
