I am sure that there are some that are tired of me asking about racks. Eggrollz’s comments about “get a Prinsu and move on” has me convinced but I do have some questions and concerns.

1) I have seen either here or another place that the Prinsu rack does not touch the body/roof of the car. Prinsu has said, “Yes it may touch the car but you can apply protective film to avoid paint damage.” I have had a paint damaging experience with a Gobi rack. Do not want to do that again. I am thinking that the wind deflector can be installed to avoid touching the painted surfaces - right? Specifically the Pro version. I really don’t want to order, receive and have to deal with this issue.

2) Do folks have satellite interference from the rack blocking the fin antenna?

3) For most overlanding type travel I would probably not use a “Topper Box” but I would want to be able to for more routine travel. Thule has what they call the “Caprock Cargo Box” kit which are a set of cargo box rails that attach to a flat type rack and allow a cargo box to mount.

Does anyone use this or something similar with a Prinsu Pro rack? I think it would go right on the Prinsu rails.

Thx in advance for the thoughts - just trying to get things ready to go before the season is upon us 😎

I just installed the Prinsu Pro on my 25 Sequoia TRD Pro. I did choose to install PPF on the roof, however, you can tighten down the front feet so that the wind deflector doesn't touch the roof. Mine is about 1/8" to 1/4" from touching. I didn't really care if it did touch, but the gap on the side rails looked good to my eye installing this way. Again, the front feet use 3M double sided tape and you can tighten down the bolt with some height adjustment. Maybe a total of 1/2" up or down. I also used PPF under the 3M tape to protect the paint. Either way, I am pleased with how it mounts and looks.

I wish somebody who has removed their side rails can tell me more about the clips that hold those rails in place. I worry about road salt where I live.

As for satellite interference, I have noticed it improved after removing the TRD Pro rack. The Prinsu Pro does not seem to interfere. I also have a Yakima Sky Box, which I have not mounted yet on this rack. But I do not see how it would be an issue.

Good info thx. Will be interested in how the Sky Box mounts, my existing box has the the clamps inset such that it won’t mount on the Prinsu bars nor the OEM Toyota Pro rack.

I did look at the FrontRunner rack today. They have a setup where you remove the factory rails and replace them with a rails setup that requires a few holes in the roof. Looks to be a very stout setup but frankly I’m not ready to cut into my new car.
