Doesn't look bad but all that red paint over everything would scare me. Could not give a honest opinion without a personal inspection. Last Sunday was in the area putting up some stuff from Prescott Valley. For how it looks in a couple picture the price seem okay but wouldn't spend that much without someone who knows FJ40 looking at it. So much easier to get a feel for the condition before someone got carried away with a spray gun. All the overspray does not say quality work. More like quick restore and flip for a profit.

Thanks for the input. I have emailed back and forth with the guy a bit and he claims “no rust”. Little hard to believe especially like you said with the new quick cheap paint job.

Ask for detailed pictures of the complete rear sill. If it was rusted and repaired/replaced pictures can usually tell. Hard to reproduce the factory welds on the back. This would be a good price if it is a original rust free tub.

A good magnet is a great tool to check for metal or excessive bondo.

Bondo doesn't magnetize very well...

@Adamcbad I am in Prescott almost every weekend and have lived up there for years. Have not seen that one around. Be wary of the overspray as mentioned before.

@tls3601 thanks for the insight. Since you haven’t seen it around makes it sound even more like a flip.

I know most of the guys who have them up here

I really appreciate all of your input...I actually live in Carlsbad, Ca and own a startup Pharmacy right downtown. We see a lot of folks coming in from Arizona this time of year and tease that it’s y’alls second home!
Try to stay cool and if any of you guys happened to see this rig or any other that’s worth while let me know
