I just bought a 1997 Toyota Prado V6 and it has some engine problems. It runs fine and flawlessly up to about 2000 rpm and then it feels like it reaches the rev limiter. At the same time, both the engine light and "OD off" flash constantly as soon as the ignition is turned on.
I have tried to provoke errors on the ECU by removing a sensor from both the engine and gearbox, both parts give an error that can be read out by flashing when the poles on the ODB1 plug are shorted. The error code disappears when the battery is disconnected and both lights constant flash again as soon as the ignition is turned on.
Anyone have an idea what could be wrong and where I should look for the error?
