I have always wanted a powered rear hatch. My 2015 did not have this feature. There are tons of aftermarket options. I spent about $300 on eBay. Installed myself. Not too bad with basic wiring knowledge. It even has the soft close feature.
It is very slow and I know some other uses prefer to turn this feature off on the newer LC’s.
It can be opened by the oem tailgate switch, aftermarket dash switch provided or 3 clicks of the open button in the remote.
The provided switch for the rear is close only but could easily be modified to open and close.
You only need to make a few wiring connections.
-Positive always on.
-Negative of course.
- the door unlock signal.
- the unlock signal from the oem rear hatch switch
- the unlock signal from the car to the rear solenoid
- the signal that tells the car the solenoid is closed
No drilling on metal. The new struts install using hardware they provide.
Let me know if you have any questions. Very satisfied with the result.
