What exactly does the Power Switch do on the LC? There are three modes, power, normal and second start. Am I just changing shift points on the transmission or is something being done to actually increase power?
The power switch shifts your gears later, giving you more umph to take off in traffic in the city if needed. I know in my Rover, it is limited to 50mph. The 2nd start switch is for starting off in 2nd instead of 1st on slippery or snowy roads. It should be in your manual..... That's where I read it.
PS- I am moving to New Hampshire eventually. Around 2010/2011...... Probably Keene or the surrounding area.
ECT-S - PWR = It remaps your shifting patterns. Basically, under full throttle, it holds your gears longer to redline before it shifts, and when your cruising and you stomp on the gas pedal, or even halfway open throttle, gear downshifts are more aggressive. I found the PWR button to be handy when towing or when I know I'll be passing cars alot more often in a 2lane highway. Only use this when necessary. Sure it makes the car feel more powerful, but in normal mode, you have greater MPG.
Normal = self explanatory
2nd = Lugs the engine in 2nd gear to prevent wheel slippage on snow or iced up roads In your case, it don't really matter what gear you start in with all 401lbs ft torque
Cool, we are planning a little recon trip up there over my wifes spring break in March. I and my friends family are both looking to relocate to NH and are planning this little trip together. Going to fly up and probably rent a little aerostar van or something that can fit all of us comfortably and gets decent gas mileage. Maybe you can give us some insight to the area.
Thanks!
PS - He's a Cracker Barrel manager. Dunno if they have one in the area of Keene. I am not limiting myself, I am going to eventually open a business in the area after we are there a couple of years. I'll probably still be in the diving business for a couple of years til we are ready.
There's a lot of controversy on whether pwr mode actually decreases your MPG (though can't talk about it on the 100 forum). In my experience, if anything I think I get better mileage in my 100, and it "feels" more powerful for sure.
