I have a 1983 hj 47. Currently traveling in Africa I had to disconnect my power steering because it was leaking. What stress will this create to the power steering components. Repairing is not an option until I get to South Africa, currently in Nigeria. What precautions should I take? Thank you

Cap the system to keep out dirt. Steering takes way more effort, so drive more defensively.

How bad leaking ? If just dripping out make a catch bucket and keep refilling, use foil to make funel into water bottle and secure somehow, filter the used oil from catch bucket if you have to. Running a power box manual is doable but could potenially fail the internals or steering shaft to wheel due to force required to operate.

Where can I source a power steering pump for a 12ht engine

The roads here are very rough, I am taking all precautions. I can see the stress on the rubber of the steering coupling is beginning to show.i have not been able to locate a steering pump in South Africa. I am beginning to think of a bush solution. Like replacing the rubber with a side tire wall.thx
