I could not find any clear diagrams on how to remove the switch panel cover on my 80 Series electric seats.
I am in the middle of making custom seat covers and wanted the covers to tuck in behind the panel.
I did this with the driver's seat still in the truck.
Pop off the switch caps or heads with a plastic pry tool. I didn't try to take off the lumbar cap - don't need to.
There are 4 flat press in tabs - 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. I used multiple pry tools to pull the panel cover away from the seat material and used a flat head screwdriver to press down carefully on the tabs one at a time - (Be careful - these are pushing 30 yrs old and mine were brittle).
After slowly working the screwdriver on a top tab, I used a pry tool to help keep the tension on the tab and moved to the next top tab. After I got the top tabs unfastened, it was easier to undo the bottom tabs by pushing up with the screwdriver on them, but take care to pull the cover straight away from the seat after they come loose to reduce the chance of breaking something - I managed to break off a small guide post above the lumbar switch- thank God I didn't break a tab.
So, not that difficult - hope this helps someone out there
