Recently swapped an older Alpine stereo with a newer Alpine with CarPlay. The old stereo automatically raised and lowered the antenna based on input (up for radio, down for everything else). The new stereo raises the antenna with unit power and only lowers it when it's shut off. Because of this, I find myself using the antenna up/down switch to manually lower it when I need to pull into the garage or on trails.
NOTE: Antenna relay raises and lowers flawlessly with unit power on and off, just doesn't work right with the antenna switch...
Symptoms: Sometimes I can lower the antenna via the switch but after driving for a bit something happens (I can sort of hear a pop or a click kinda like the relay) and then that tells me the lower switch will no longer respond. I can press up on the switch and hear the relay click, but pressing down I get nothing. No sound, no movement, nothing. It's possible this has always been an issue but since my old stereo always lowered the antenna for me when I switched off of radio, I really never messed with that switch.
Is it common for the dash switch to not work? Uncommon? I can kind of live with it I guess, but would be nice if I can get that switch working for car washes and stuff.
