I'm at the point where I can begin to re-assemble the '72 FJ40 and am looking at options to anti-WI the vehicle.

I decided to Rust Bullet everything from the frame down - everything I've read says great product and I can touch up as needed as opposed to other options.

I have a variety of other parts (bumpers, license plate bracket, etc.) that I would prefer to powder coat.

Has anyone found a good quality, reasonably priced powder coater in SE Wisconsin? I'm located in Milwaukee and someone within in ~1 hour drive would be great.

On a similar note - painting springs - I've decided to go with a Hell Creek suspension. If I can't convince them to use POR or Rust Bullet at their shop (I'll give them the big salt/rust lecture interlaced with crying if need be) I'll repaint them.

Anyone painted their springs before? Paint assembled or disassembled? Any thing to consider?

I always did springs leaf by leaf. Painting them together is a waste of your energy and supplies. Ask for new center bolts when purchasing just in case reassembly is not in your favor. Center bolts are butter soft, remember not to pull the leaf packs together with them. Use C-clamps then snug the center pin.

Mudracer - thanks for the reminder on the previous thread

Looks like there are 2 - 3 options:

J & J Powder Coating
2805 Ebenezer Ave Zion, Illinois 60099
(847) 731-3131

Motor Sports Powder Coating
Delevan
(262) 740-2030

Appleton - Prism?

I'm having an underseat gas tank and aux tank frabricated plus front and rear bumpers and a few other small pieces. I probably won't have these ready to go until late January. I'll see if I can divide the parts and try to compare results. I'll update when I have more.

Thanks again for the input!

I have had some motorcycle stuff done at Kettle Morraine Coatings in Jackson, WI. An ex neighbor owns the place and takes care of me there. Not sure how they handle walk ins, but if you want black, I am fairly sure they would be good to work with. I was very happy with the quality. Other colors might be more difficult, timewise and spendy wise.
