popping cracking exhaust noise

I hear a popping cracking exhaust noise coming from my LX, it sounds like what the exhaust system sounds like when it is hot and it is cooling down, you know the pop/crack/ding noise you get from cooling thin metal. This is happening when the LX has only been driven for 10 minutes in 30 degree weather. This is not a ticking noise. Is it just normal metal expansion/contraction from metal going from being cool to hot? I did not even hear it until I was at a drive-in and I had my window down next to a brick building where I could hear the sound off the side of the building. My LX is a 2004 with 43K miles, still under factory and CPO warranty. Just don't want the dealer to say normal if it is something wrong that should be fixed.

I think it's normal. Mine does it all the time... and it's a lot warmer than 30˚ around here.

Remember you have stainless steel under there.

Well it got up to 39C the other day here and mine was still creaking!

Kind of reminds me of a metalic rice crispes sound, snap, crackle, pop. Glad to hear it is normal.
