I realize the audience for this may be somewhat limited, but what's the consensus among 16+LX owners on the dreaded mouse-based infotainment? I've messed around with it a bit but I'm curious to hear how long-term (>3mo) owners feel about it.

I strongly considered a 16+ LX to build but hate is an understatement for how I felt about the infotainment. I think it was a mistake for Lexus to move to that format away from a touch screen and is one of the main reasons I built a 16 LC instead. The infotainment is IMO the biggest downfall to the 16+ LX.

It’s simple to use. I’ve had all kinds of systems over the years. Our 18 Odyssey is touch screen and it’s not really that much better. My ls430 was touch. Ehh. The infotainment really isn’t that bad. But then again I’m under 40 and grew up using joysticks etc.

I'm on the cusp as far as age 😉

I've got an X3 with iDrive and I've come to think that it's fantastic. The touchscreen of the LC feels like a step back and the LX seems like it could be unlivable. Good to get a counter perspective.

My wife's 2017 NX300H has the mouse based info system. Very cumbersome to use, I never know where the cursor is going to end up when I touch the "mouse." Typing an address using the mouse is difficult and time consuming, though my wife doesn't seem to mind it.

I definitely prefer the touch screen in my 09 LX.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely not preferable, but also not a deal breaker, for me. I use my iPhone for Nav as it’s better than any stock system. I use the buttons for most climate control and audio control, so the mouse gets very little use all in all.

I've had previous Lexus models that also used the cursor/mouse system (GX, GS, CT, LS) and while it's not preferable, it's certainly not the worst thing in the world. I think the entire infotainment system on Toyota's and Lexus products is pretty far behind the current curve, but in that same breath it is also simple and straight forward in it's application. The best system by far is Apple/Andriod Play and I see that as the future for all manufacturers moving forward. Using Apple Car Play (or Android) will allow the manufacturer to leave the infotainment OS up to the cell phone and eliminate the need to develop individually based software. I have had quite a few Ford's as well and I have seen every generation of the Sync system, and I would put it ahead of the Entune/Toyota/Lexus system as well.

So in regards to the question asked in the poll I can't quite answer with one of the provided answers as I don't love it or hate and I will never truly get used to it. I hope that moving forward they will lose the touch/cursor interface and do away with the current OS as well.

We have a 16’ LC and a 18’ LX. There’s things I love and hate about both. I love that the LX has hard buttons for fan speed but like having a hard button for climate on the LC. I think I prefer the LX system overall but I’m still undecided.

Thanks guys. I've been wanting to take the plunge on a 200, but i've been waiting until the recall stuff clears so i can snag a low-mile CPO 16+. I was almost 100% positive that it was going to be an LC, but in the months i've been looking, the LX slowly started growing on me. Seeing @Chrisleduc1's LX build thread has me reconsidering. Just don't know if i can get past that joystick!

Honestly, the infotainment system is self is the real pain. It’s just a cumbersome system. Once you learn the layout it’s bearable. The joystick is neither ideal nor horrible but I think it gets exasperated when combined with the infotainment system. But seriously, if bless you’re using the GPS a LOT, it really doesn’t get all that much use. I’ll say it this way - the AHC make it well worth it :) But obviously I’m biased :)

Save money and buy an LX with a better interior (if that's your thing) and do the AHC mod or spend more and get a LC and have options for aftermarket suspension. In my eyes that what it really boils down to, other than that they are the same.

While our LX is a '10; over the last several months I have driven an RX loaner (almost 2 weeks total) while the radiator and ahc issues got resolved. I, for the life of me, can never get the "mouse" to "land" where it is supposed to - more important the safety issue while effing with darn thing while driving is huge. I did not like it - at all.

Maybe (like a mac or PC) there is a sensitivity adjustment? Really would be easier (and safer) to just be able to put a finger on the screen....

You can adjust the haptic feedback of the cursor in the settings. I always set ours one notch from the highest. This allows for me to make a deliberate movement in order to move the cursor, otherwise the cursor shoots all over the place. It only took me a few days to get the hang of it again, but I agree that I think they should do away with it in the 300-series.
