My 191k mile LC developed a rough idle a few weeks ago, I didn’t think much of it at the time. It came on after I did 1100 miles on while road tripping around the Sierras. Yesterday the idle got worse and the check engine light came as I was running some errands in town. I took it to O’Reilly’s and their scanner gave the PO 306 coed misfire in cylinder 6.
I’ve read through a few posts here on the code and they all seem to be about the nightmare situation that isn’t easlily solved. My son who has developed into a decent YouTube mechanic (I’m not mechanical) looked at things and said the spark plug wire connection for cyclinder was extremely dirty and grimy.
So my question is; how often is this code a nightmare situation vs just being as simple as new plugs and wires?
I’m taking it in tomorrow to my local Toyota expert to have them look at it.
Don't panic, do a systematic diagnosis. Since you are taking it to a dealer: get the oldest (most experienced) master tech at the dealership if possible, not the new "plug in the computer and throw parts at it" kids.
Come on man why go to a Toyota expert when you have us? Why even post this of your not asking for some guidance? Why not start at a new set of spark plugs and wires. Cheeper than paying an expert for a hour!

I’ve changed oil and brakes, never done plugs, wires or distributor. My son recently did his plugs, wires and distributor on his ‘91 Toyota pickup. He told me to go buy the plugs and wires and pay him to replace. While I appreciate what he does to save money on his truck I’m not sure I want to turn my rig over to him. I have a well respected independent shop in town with a Toyota tech with 25+ years of experience. I’m just hopeful it’s just plugs and wires and not one of these endless rabbit hole jobs I see posts on here regarding the same code.
If he can do a pick up he can do any car with a gas engine. Buy Toyota parts only for this the wires are numbered and so is the cap so you can’t mess it up. These trucks require constant upkeep and it will get very expensive fast if you’re paying people to work on them almost not worth owning in my opinion. You guys can do it!!
