So my OEM radio finally died and I was looking for a plug and play option. Read somewhere online that the Scion XB stereo was an easy swap. Found one on FB marketplace for free and yep, mounts and plugs in… only problem, the face of the stereo is too big and requires too much alteration to the bezel to work.

I began my hunt again and found FB post for a 2000 Toyota Camry (Pioneer stereo). It still has an 90’s classic Toyota look with a tape deck and CD player. Turns out it’s perfect plug and play. There’s and extra plug that goes unused, but the radio, tape deck and cd player work!

Win-win for me… no wiring, no alterations and cheaper than an OEM “Landcruiser” stereo.

Yup, my '02 Tacoma's original radio fit perfectly into my 62. Strangely, my '02 Tacoma's radio looked exactly the same as that one, but with an orange back light. I also think mine was made by Matsushita?

Looks a generation newer than the original, but much better than having some modern thing with coloured lighting.

If you stream everything from your phone, you can gut the original radio and put a cheap Bluetooth amplifier in, to keep the original look.
