I definately think this is less harmful to the frame. However, doesn't it make more sense to push the snow so the tires can grip better on the area paved by the plow?

The way this is set up you drive over the snow first and then pull it.

Hey I am looking to find a 80 for a plow truck too. With everyone on this list knocking the prices down, soon I am going to find an inexpensive one. Currently have a 70's Cheby Blazer that sometimes starts and sometimes not. Leak just about everywhere.

I think a 80 shop should have a 80 plow

Stayalert; I was looking for an 80 on autotrader.com this weekend and I saw one for sale for $5,800 with a snowplow included. I'm in Dallas, and this truck is located at Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington, TX. I almost drove over there to look at it until I came to the conclusion that bjowet did. I figured I could probably get the 80 for even less than they were asking, but I'm not sure I'd want it if it lived that hard of a life. Maybe if you call them they'd sell you just the snowplow. Not much use for it around here. If they got rid of it they could probably ask more for the truck. "Must see to appreciate! Southern truck! Yada, Yada". Their number is

Was just at the farm and home store during lunch and saw one of those. Looks pretty simple and will mount directly to a receiver hitch. The in-store video even showed one on a minivan.

I think an 80 would do WAY better plowing than a 40 would, and I've seen atleast a few plows on 40's. Heck we had one, my dad just sold it, and the new owner just got it onto his '80 40, had a big custom brackets that went down under the frame. Held to the frame in probably 6 or 8 places with about 3/4" bolts (thread-size, not head size), really beefy, the brackets went all the way back to about where the tranny is on the 40, so it was certainly not just taking the shock-load in the front. Probably not the 'best' thing for any vehicle, but I'd rather see a 40 or 80 plowing snow than sitting at the mall! Course I'd really rather see a 40 or 80 plowing a path to a stuck H2...LOL
