Plasma cutter or ideas

I have to shorten a bracket that goes between the rails on my lift by about 1/4 of an inch. It's 3/8 thick steel and I don't have an easy way to cut it. Does any one have a plasma cutter and want to help me out? Or, are there some other ideas out there to cut it? I thought about just grinding it or a hack saw, but I figured that would take forever and look pretty crappy.

A 4" grinder would make short work of that.

A good cut off wheel in a grinder would cut through it pretty easy.

Thanks. I should have tried it before giving up on it. The grinder worked great.
