Anybody use this? I think it looks awesome because it folds down the way it does. But it's pricey. Anybody know of anything similar that doesn't cost so much?

Boston Mangler, not on the board much any more owns one. I've been meaning to email him to ask how it 'really' does now that he's had it for awhile. He's the one that did the short write up in TT comparing it to a washing machine tub fire pit.

Personally I use a washing machine tub and it works great. PITA about it is the bulk an weight of the damn thing. Cost on it is less than $50, cheaper if you can score a freebie tub.

I like the fold up feature of the Pit2Go, but like you, for the $$$, I'll haul the tub I've got.

I have no experience with that but we have one that is fully collapsible to roughly an inch wide by 18" square. It opens up like scissors with two trays, one for wood or charcoal and the other for BBQing. I'll find the link somewhere. It was only like $60 but took forever to get

Thanks for the replies guys. Nlxtacy, if you could post the link that would be great so I can at least check it out before I maybe pull the trigger on this one.

Found it. Its pretty kick ass and takes up no room.

Thanks for the link Nlxtacy! That thing looks pretty cool. I like the fact that it's a lot lighter than the pit2go.

The one you have is marketed primarily as a barbque grill. Have you burned wood in it as well? I'm guessing it will do that just fine, right?

Yeah it says BBQ but you can use it just fine as a fire pit. We bought a bundle of split logs and if you dont put on the top grill you can burn a few no problem. For us its just ridiculously simple to put and and take down. Fold in the sides and collapse. I am thinking about getting a zippered bag to put it in and then just keep it in the truck.

Idon't have one, but wally world has a bare bones fire pit that breaks down to fold. Downside: no bottom just the sides...you can always put a large pizza tray under and voila...cost about $25.

I ended up getting the one nlxtacy suggested. Just arrived. I bought it off Amazon for about $35. This thing looks awesome for the money. Perfect size, very little weight, and extremely easy to set up. Can't wait to use it, which will most likely be the holiday break. Thanks for the tip NLXTACY!
