I was given 2 Sceptor Army Surplus fuel cans from my Bro Jeremy (aka: wheelingnoob).
So I got them at Christmas, and have been tentatively thinking about making a modular Jerry Can Basket which I can mount on the rear swing out we made for my spare last year.
So, yeah - here's some photos. Basically I've got a full length single swing out made of 2inch square tubing. The tire favors the drivers side- leaving plenty of room on the passenger side to make my madness.
Since I like the idea of a modular, easily removed accessory mounts... I created a system which lets me 'slide' on an accessory mounting bar. This bar is made to slide over the 2in square, and it bolts on the tire arm with U-Bolts... ok, enough typing. ... its pretty strait forward when you see the photos I think.
I've still got to finish the actual jerry can basket - need to create a hinged access door that I can lock etc. Also need to make a vertical support bar for the hi-lift - the base is done though.

This is the Bracket, which slides onto the main swingout:

While I was at it, figured I'd drop the Tire Mount down about 4-inches and angle it back along with the lines of the 60. So here's the cut and angled tire carrier(You can see the hi-lift base too):
Here's kind of how the hi-lift will sit, it'll be a little more vertical:
Time to start pretty-ing up the Basket a bit:
Kinda how it looks right now:
So I've just got to finish another panel on the top to cover the jerry can opening and the hinged front door which will lock them all in place. There is a bit of extra space around the jerry cans, so I'll use some rubber or something to wedge them into place while im on the road. I've still got to create a bar to go from the outside edge of can holder down to the foot of the attachment bar - should be done for the weekend.
