Look at the Thule x-sporter rack system. Its great for this as in its lowest position, the rtt sits about level with the cab, and then can be raised when you get to camp. Its a pretty burly rack that can carry like 750 lbs. I tend to like stuff to be versitile, which is why this rack appealed to me, and its worked out well. Hth.

This is a model offered by Chris at Cartopcamper.....looks pretty cool, and Chris was a pleasure to deal with, I bought my first RTT from him.

Thanks bud, the design was done in Solidworks, and unfortunately it doesn't come with a library of expedition gear...
Might be a bit OCD, but I modeled everything you see in those renderings.

Not exactly the answer your looking for but I mount mine on my outback if we are just overland on paved or fire roads. Better gas milage than the 60 and the wife and dogs are more comfy.
