I guess the previous owner was quite enamored with as she called them "vintage trailers" what some may call old junk she had bought this and pulled it home with her V.W. golf, but it wasnt vintage enough so she found one from the 50's and brought it home as well and her husband had had enough of her lawn ornaments and told her to sell this one . Some where along the line some one did some work to it it has a new fiberglass/rubber roof , brand new never used dometic toilet, new propane tanks. it needed a bit of obvious work when I bought it some old rot that never was fixed and i figured it may need some axle work and tires.
I picked it up for $900 which i think was too much, all though after looking at new trailers may not have been.
so far I pulled the wheels and hubs off and found that the bearing and races were almost new koyos except that some one had reused an old seal or put the wrong one in as grease had migrated past it and into the hub. So i repacked the bearing and put new grease seals in.
the tries were rotted and that size is no longer available (185/75r14 ST) , luckily for me I was able to get a set some 205/75r14 ST and it gives us a little more clearance
it has some weird assed rims (either the big circle or this star pattern which are very,very hard to find, and i was not about to do a road trip with out a spare, luckily i found a guy in chilliwack who had bought a brand new one in the states last year and traded in his trailer and kept the spare - it is useless to probably 99.99% of the other people except me so I paid him exactly what he wanted and thankfully after b.s.ing with him a few minutes he asked how I was going to mount it i told him we would head off to buy one from the rv shop and voila he pulled out his old mount ! sometimes it pays not to low ball someone !
planning on a shake down run after the long weekend any suggestions ?
