Manny, are you sure those are 5.5" i thought I came up with 6.5" when I measured them. I run my 33x9.5's on 7" wheels at 22psi and like the ride a lot. They probably wear a little faster but BFGs hold up pretty well on the blacktop. I think you are fine with the wide tires and narrow wheels, that is the way to go. My new 33x9.5's came off the 8" wheels a lot easier in the tire machine than the old 9.5"s came off of your wheels. I had to use the tire hammer to get the bead to break, the old machine wouldn't do it. That is with zero psi, if you ever lose the bead, it won't matter becuase you won't walk away from the wreck.

I am very pleased w/the 10.5 on stock wheels...how do you like the new color?

Several people recommend the narrower 9.5's on stock wheels...but an equal number recommend the wider tires. I finally decided when I found a restored FJ in a 2003 Toyota Trails with 10.5's on stockers (mag is a MUST for any cruiser).

I'm pretty sure they are 5.5's...did you measure the width of the wheels, or did you read the stamped sizing on the wheel itself?

I think the actual width of a wheel is normally wider than the stated width.
The rated width measurement maybe from where the tire bead sits on the wheel or something.

I will spend sometime on the truck tomorrow, and look for the stamped size on the wheel itself.

of how much shipping would be for 5 tires/wheels?

Not sure on the year.

I was informed that there are basically two types of cruiser wheels:
riveted and welded

Wheels are basically two parts joined together, a rim portion and a wheel center.
In the earlier cruiser wheels, I believe these sections are riveted together.

The welded wheels may provide more clearance to accommodate w/disc brakes.

Please correct me If I am wrong,

Since the wheels are now grey, the stamped size is a bit harder to read.

It looks like "5 1/2"...can someone confirm the stock fj40 wheel size?
