Picked up an older Norcold fridge.

Nice score there buddy!
I've been able to get by with no problems running my old ARB off a single battery with no problems at all. I used to keep that thing running 24/7 for weeks at a time - not a single issue with battery draining as long as I started the rig up daily to recharge the battery...and really...on most trips, I'd be moving daily anyhow, so it was never a problem.

I also bought a 60 qt Norcold several years ago off craigslist - paid 200 for it. That beat up old beast is still running strong. I used it a few months ago as a temporary freezer when we had some work done in the kitchen and had to unplug the main fridge for a week or so. Worked flawlessly...and the Norcold is probably 20 years old...at least!

Do you run the fridge off the DC power port in the rear cargo area? Or is it ran straight to the battery? I guess I should ask first what rig are you running the fridge in?

it's in my 80 series.
I have a 12v outlet in the rear cargo area that's wired to the battery...with redundant fuse blocks in between the outlet and the battery (I got a little fuse-block-happy when I originally wired my DC ports).
