I just got my license renewal notice for my 91 FJ80, it indicated that I need to go through emissions testing again this year...I just had it tested last year. I looked back at all my previous tests and they were every 2 years.

Did something change that now requires me to test every year?

Don't you have the option to either pay for one or two years? Maybe last year checked the wrong box?

You have the option of paying one or two years murf, but it will tell you if you don't have to do emission's this year. Since its pre OBD 2 and AWD like stated above it will have to be done every year. If it was OBD 2 its tested every two years and you can pay the registration yearly if you want.

I've had to get mine tested every year. I don't think I ever got the two year option. I tried to select it last year, and it wouldn't let me.

I've read the pre-OBD2 statement about AWD vehicles requiring yearly emissions as well; my confusion only stems from all previous tests being every 2 years...even when I didn't renew for 2 years at a time. Not that it's a big deal, just an annoyance that I have to make time to go get it tested again, and probably have to get a new O2 sensor again.

Our fine gov't working for us. Make it ever so annoying that you get rid of the older vehicles.

(I've 'moved' to Flagstaff...)

That's pretty amazing. In the republic of CA, a carbureted 2F on a 30 year old FJ60 only has a date w the smog tech ramming his rod up her pipe every two years.
