Peanut oil has a higher smoke point. So depending on what you want to cook, ie, at higher temps, this may be a better choice. Try it with real popcorn (not the microwave crap)...you'll see and taste the difference.
 
exactly what BJTLC100 said: higher smoke point making it ideal for frying, it's a monounsaturated fat, meaning it's a lighter "healthy" oil, and has a mild flavor. It's also hypoallergenic because the organic compounds that are allergens are cooked and filtered out.

There are cold-pressed peanut oils as well, they have a stronger flavor, but also contain allergens and have a low smoke-point because it's unrefined. It's really great where you want the taste, like in an ice cream base, or roasted veggies.
