On Saturday a friend helped me install the Slee part time 4WD kit (I was more like an assistant). I really enjoyed the job. Found it really interesting. I noticed the stearing is a lot easier and the braking is under my control again (no ABS in 2WD). I won't know if the gas mileage is any better until I average it out over a couple of months. I will post a few pics later.
For those of you who were wondering before, the front drive shaft does not turn in 2WD. The viscous coupler is now just a spacer in the transfer case. The new spool does not turn the viscous coupler. It just rests against it with a nylon spacer. To engage the 4WD the hubs need to be locked and the Center Dif Lock switch has to be engaged. When the hubs are locked the ABS works.
