I am ready to tear into the rear housing of the transfer case to change the Oil seal that has failed. This past Sat. morning I realized once again how much I have grown to hate working on cars when I replaced my alternator on my 93(easy job, but then again nothing is ever easy). And now this, a damn 5 dollar oil seal is going to make me tear into the transfer case (ok, I'll stop whinning now!). I go through my little phases where I don't want to wrench at all on anything, and then go threw times where I spend all my free time tearing and assembling just about everything in sight in these damn cars.
Well. whatever. I just have a simple question, I needed the part # for the Ball Bearing that goes into the rear housing. I got the part # for the oil seal from a thread I searched. I figure, I might as well replace the bearing or at least be ready to replace the bearing when I tear into the transfer case as this might be the reason why the seal failed. I don't want to have to dissassemble the the rear housing again once I have butted everything up, knowing that I could have fixed the problem the first time. Thanks.

I replaced mine when I did the rear seal. Make sure you have a variety of snapring pliers on hand, as there are a couple of different kinds inside the rear extension housing.

My bearing just came in the mail yesterday from cdan with part# 90366-60008, my cruiser is a 93, which may be the difference in the part #'s although I thought the center diff's were the same 93-97. Did your seal fail due to overgreasing the splines? Interesting reading here on the topic. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/20022-updated-warning-greasing-rear-drive-shaft.htmlI'm venturing that mine did, will find out soon.

I's take Dan's number over the ToyoDIY one I posted, although it probably supersedes to Dan's.

Thanks all for the replies. The seal failed after a nice wheeling day at the mud bogs, IH8MUD! The ball bearing might be alright, but once I take everyhthing apart, I want to have the bearing ready jusr incase I need it. Thanks again.

cc93cruiser,
I just went to install this bearing yesterday (90366-60008) and it is the wrong one.
96r50 did give you the right part #(90363-50005)

90363-50005 Bearing radial ball (for transfer output rear case)
90366-60008 Bearing taper roller (for transfer output shaft)

Sorry for the confusion,

Tyler
