Problems with the CDL

[quote author=hoser link=board=2;threadid=14942;start=msg141728#msg141728 date=1082407687]
I am having CDL woes too. I pulled the connector off the transfer case (as per http://www.sleeoffroad.com/technical/tz_centerdiff.htm) and shorted the plug. Now the CDL light comes on the dash--good and the F&R differential locks work. What's strange is that I've tested the little ball switch and it works well (.1 ohms) even when pressed just a little bit. Attached to the connector, I can make the CDL light go on/off.

My question is, can there be something wrong mechanically in the transfer case, preventing the actuation of this switch? Or should I just order a new switch and cross my fingers?

If you pulled the connector and shorted the pins a got the CDL light on and the indicator switch works properly then that indicates the the center diff is not locking either because the 4 lo position indicator is not working, the CDL actuator is not working or a fault in the wiring. You can jumper the 4 lo indicator swith or test the actuator with a 9 volt battery per FSM to test. You can search back into the archives about three or four months ago with my user name and "CDL" to get more details. I've started a FAQ but have been ill for the last three weeks so I haven't completed this yet.

Thanks Beowulf and PPC! I've been reading your old posts. I'll get to the bottom of this!!
