Paki Top install real time help needed

Hmmm. Have you tried the adjustment that can be done in the length of the bows (a little only) where the side bow is bolted to the front and rear bows?

I actually loosened the bolts and put a strap there and ratched, them together and tightened the bolts, I also made sure the front pieces were tight, maybe I could get the measurment from the front seams where the first brace is to the front of the top just to see if it's different, that would help, thanks, Larry

On my cruiser the top of the front windshield moved a fair amount toward the front of the truck when I took the hard top off. I had to crank down the windshield screws pretty good to get my Ehsan-made safari top to fit. The safari top loosened up a bit over time and now it fits great.

As for shipping costs. The first top I had made (canvas only mind you) was shipped to me more cheaply via DHL than the bundled shipment just received in Washington.

valkyrie610- Just stating an opinion, which all of you seem to have more than enough of, thought i would chime in for a first. Also, if you notice the first part of my post was a question, "Do all the Pakistan tops look like the above pics?" I was wondering if there were any other available styles. Not too off topic really, but thanks for caring.

Sorry to say it bud, I think it's pretty poor form to post a solicitation for a product rip-off in a thread about that vendor's product... especially right after the vendor posted no less!

You should start a new thread if you want to copy someone's work.

alright well lets get a few things straight first before you start telling my what kind of form im in thanks very much. first off when i read the thread the said vendor HAD NOT posted. second since when does somone get crapped on for wanting to make themselves something?! i mean wtf i have been thinking of ways to make my own top for the past year or so and i have always known i would get my friend to make it not to put downn somone elses work but he is a friend..wouldnt you get a buddy to do work for you instead of getting some dude you dont know to do it? and also didnt i mention i was looking for "im just looking for ideas, someplace to start from" yea i think i did....also when you imply that im trying to 'rip off' somones idea that generaly means im going to be selling them and making a virtual exact copy of their work....funny i dont recall offering them for sale either...also recal mentioning that i would change it to my taste as well. does this mean i cant cut and turn my axles cause im ripping off companies that do that? or weld my diffs for fear of pissing off ARB nope...im gunna look wherever i want to make what i want for my rig.

oh yea and since my form is obviously so poor i guess this might not mean much to valkyrie610 but as you might have guessed i dont think much of his opinion anyways, i would like to apoligize to ehsankiani if i have offended you by my post, as i mentioned both above and in my previous post i am looking for ideas, i dont want to outright copy your product, if i did it would be easy enough to buy one of your tops and have my friend make them(in which case i WOULD be a total dirtbag).....im just looken for ideas ...in any case if your ofended fire me a PM and i'll remove the post, again my apoligies if you feel that im trying to rip off your hard work

uuummm granted my post was off topic but i do believe part of it was offering to remove my post if it ofended the manufacturer of the product.

by the looks of your posts in this thread...i might give some advice, something i dont usualy do cause im no expert on cruisers but reading is alot easier once you pull your head out from up your ass

If you look in the merchandise Storefront you will find the threads of a coupla of group order that are just finishing up, there is also a thread in this forum for Eshan Pakistan soft top you may be able to hook up there, the shipping alone is quite high but a group buy saves cash but takes a while, hopefully a new one would be quicker. Try those or send a message to Eshan, his e-mail is listed in this thread, cheers, Larry

valkyrie610-ugly was the wrong word.I bet they do work hard to put there tops together, they look like great quality tops,more power to them. Just not what i envision on my cruiser is all, and i was wondering if they had any other styles, with different shaped windows maybe. Saying that i want a jeep top came out of nowhere though. I personally dont get the jeep vs toyota thing. I dont think its the vehicle thats the problem (jeep) its usually the a****** driving it. Landcruiser owners are no different than jeep owners in that respect. To each his own. Ehsan, no disrespect.

Jumping in here...

brew8, if you have figured out the installation great! Here is what I had to do to get the top to "fit" properly:

My rear bows were too tall. I had to shorten the rear bows by about 3". I did this by using a pipe cutter but you could use a hack saw. By doing this, the top fit properly.

But before you start hacking away, measure from the floor of the tub to the top of your REAR installed bow. This should be 1200mm at the highest point according to the Toyota FSM. My bet is that yours are a little longer.

Don't fire up the hacksaw just yet! Your top across the 3 bows should be parallel with the floor of your tub. The only bow you CAN'T shorten is the first bow (the one over your head in the front seat). Using a straight edge like a carpenters level, 2x4, or what ever, "extend" the floor of the tub under this bow and take a measurement at its’ highest point. This should be 1200mm as well.

If it is not 1200mm, I bet it is pretty close. (On my top, the front bow was really close to 1200mm.) Now take your measurement and cut the rear bows to match. REMEMBER MEASURE TWICE AND CUT ONCE!!!

As I've mentioned, I had to cut my (shorten) rear bows about 3". Once I did this, the top fit perfectly.

I had to modify the rear curtain supports to match the now shorter top. I did this by carefully measuring and cutting as I did the bows, re-crimping and re-bending.

I’m not sure why the bows were so far off. I can only deduce that; the Pakistani craftsmen purposefully left these a little long for it would be easier to shorten them if needed --- or ---- (and not very likely) the tub that is used when making these is out of whack.
