Hi guys,
I've got an 88 cruiser that has been well baked in the Texas sun. The paint has been oxidizing.

You can see the oxidation on the light silver pretty well. It can actually be scratched off. Which Is why I am here. The paint and body is fine for the most part, but I'm wondering if I can freshen this up a little bit? Maybe some polishing compound and buffing??? I'm then hoping after I get some of that patina off to be able to wax it up and buff it up really well. I'm not in the position to repaint the truck (money) but I sure have plenty of time (unemployed).:D

But it looks fine a few feet away.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

I spent about 2 months researching this. My 40 is in the same situation. Toyota used to put their single stage on pretty thick so I know in my case I have alot of paint to work with. I dont see why youd be any worse off but might want to look into how many coats you have to work with. Anyway yes with the right compound you can do it. For any rust or sains you can try to work them out with a clay bar.

The Pro P-15 on this site followed by the P-33 troubleshooter is what I tested out on some junk parts and will be using on my truck after some metal patchwork gets done. After compounding go through the polish and wax procedure. That site has some good info as far as "How to" stuff as well.Hope this helps and of course I have to say if you try this and ruin your rig it not my fault. Souldnt be too hard though. Good luck.

PS: Buy the way get a good polisher. Itll make a big differance
