Does any one know what kind of paint was put on a 74 fj40? Thinking it may be a lacquer based paint. Has anyone had any compatibility issues using a urethane base primer and paint on top of original top coats? Thanks.

The Krylon™ seems to be holding up pretty well.

Just remember when painting over stock paint to rough it up first. I have no idea about primer/topcoats past that

your cruiser is a lacquer base paint and primer.try to stick with that at least with the primer if you can.they sell the laquer primer even in a can if your going the rattle can route.but you should be ok ive mixed matched in the past and never had any trouble

Thought it maybe be a lacquer, but was't sure. Thanks.
