Just purchased a 1970 FJ40. Has a swapped in 2F engine. Wiring seems to be somewhat of a mess. Who has tackled a rewire? Is the Painless harness truly painless?

It's Painless, not painless.... but it's not awful. Everything is very logical and well-labled, but you'll need to use your plugs to attach the harness to the switches and wiring.
Very well made and will provide a great result with patience. I did one in my build, but I'm not great at documenting details like many here.

Yes not painless but doable, many will tell you it's just as easy or likley easier to fix what you got (my 69' came with painless and it's ok but has tons (OK pounds) of wire to clean up as he never really finished/cleaned it up. I installed a rebuilt oem slightly newer oem harness (by me prior internet) in the 63' back in the day.
