nother trip for those interested. Martin on the FJ Forums is organizing a Padre Island National Seashore trip for April 11-13.
So far its up to about 20 trucks and 40 people. Ill copy/paste the details:
We will be meeting up at the H-E-B on SE Military dr and Goliad(3323 SE Military Dr, San Antonio, TX 78223-3814) @ 10 AM to gas up and grab the last few things that we need before we head out.
We'll be on CB channel 24 once we head out, so I'd recommend having a CB radio for the trip
Plan is to camp around 15-20 Miles down beach. Completely primitive camping. Bring water, shovel or a bucket. REI has the potty seats and inserts for a 5 gal bucket at a reasonable price..They work well
Bring extra gas also. If the sand is soft your fuel use will double. Last year we hit the beach with a nearly full tank. Went the 120 miles (down to the end and back), put in the 15gals of extra fuel we carried and came off with 1/4 tank left.
Julie and I are tentatively in depending on a few other things. Im also going to suggest to Martin that some of us might want to run ahead of the group, get on island and secure a large enough camp spot not as far down.
