Hello, I got a CEL on my ‘96 that has 347k miles. Scanner says it is P340 camshaft position sensor. I checked resistance across pins 2&3 of the sensor that is on top of the distributor and it 475 ohms. The FSM says it should be no higher than 275 ohms. I then checked resistance on our other ‘96 that has no problems. It read 454 ohms. The FSM is saying to replace the distributor if this measurement is out of spec. However, I’m wondering how accurate this test is since my other truck is also out of spec but runs fine. Any thoughts on what I should do next? Thanks

A resistance reading is dependent upon the internal battery of the meter. Replace that battery and recheck your sensors.

Good point on the ohmmeter, thanks. I changed batteries but it is still reading out of spec at 454 ohms.
