Could not find any reviews on the Overland custom steering linkage (tie rod and drag link), like the design and its $100 less than the delta. The only difference I see is the delta looks to be split at the end for easier install without pulling tie rod ends which Im not too concerned about. Does any one have any experience or reviews of the overland Customs set up ?

I don't have first hand experience with either, but I think a lot of guys will tell you that they've had jam nuts like the ones used on the Overland Custom Design linkage loosen up over time. Same reason some people don't like adjustable panhard bars or rear links. I'm sure that if they are properly installed with some red loctite, they'll be fine but that does present challenges when they need to be adjusted later.

IMO, the Delta setup is a superior design because it uses the OEM pinch clamps instead of jam nuts. Just throw on some anti seize, adjust, tighten and go.

why would you want aluminum steering links?
I've seen them bent, even the heavy duty steel ones...this grade aluminum is known to flex and bounce back to straight after a hard hit.

Something to consider- 7075 is a liability without a protective coating. It's never, ever used in critical applications without a high level coating, usually type III hardcoat.

Without a coating 7075 rapidly deteriorates from corrosion.

you can easily bend steel back / weld it on the trail you cannot do that with aluminum

I don't think there are any disadvantages to properly implemented aluminum suspension and steering parts. 7075 has different properties than mild steel and is a pretty smart choice vs mild steel tubing.

I need to replace mine and wanted to upgrade to something beefier, and these looked like 2 of the best options

I just dont understand why you would want to introduce all the vulnerability that aluminum has into your steering system. There are plenty of hd steel options out there.

I don't dispute that race trucks are successful with jam nuts or that they are very strong, but in all likelihood they are serviced and checked at more regular intervals as well. I just think the pinch style clamps may be a better design for the average joe.

One could argue that the average Joe doesn't need stronger steering links anyway though so that is probably a moot point.
FYI, off road race trucks use jam nuts.

🤙

Cheers

Yup, a lot of times a person may not agree with what others are saying on the forum or posting as "facts". Thing is, really don't care to argue or go back and forth about what is better or who is right. Me personally, after so many years on the forum and going on 10yrs running a Land Cruiser shop, I don't respond to much of any of it these days. This was one of those times I did respond.

You like something, great run it! There is lot's of us on the forums though and obviously we don't all think the same.

Cheers

What are some of the best Steel ones ? I did look and saw some options but not too much on the forums with first hand experience/comparisons, definitely thankful for all the input and comments

DOM and any kinda "chromoly" tubing in condition N are both pretty meh really. There's much better materials out there suited to a connecting link. 1144 stressproof would be my first choice. Induction hardened chromoly chrome or nitrided cylinder stem would be pretty cool too...

DOM is about as low as a guy can get and more expensive than really good materials that don't have a tiny hole through the center... Cuz that 2 lbs is critical in a 4x4 lol.
