Are any of you guys members? What's your thoughts on this? I partly for it to learn more and communicate more with "like mind" people but I'm also against it because it's another group.

I'm confused. Are you planning on getting married to these people?

So are you telling me you're a member?

There's not much info on the website- you pay to be a lifetime member, get a emblem, and get 6months access to something special in their forum. I'm a member of other "clubs" but they disclose that they are actively doing (usually to fight/work with government regulation).
This appears to be: just throw your money here to be able to say "HEY LOOK AT ME!"

I follow the guy on social media but what really am I supporting?

I rather be informed~

I think you are supporting an emblem on your car that says "Overland Bound." You can support Mud for a small donation and become a bronze/silver/gold member if you want to support a great cause!

I have an Overland Bound account. I haven't been over there in a while though. I pretty much read all the threads I was interested in, but haven't come across a lot of new content to keep me interested. I did not buy an emblem.

One thing I like is the owner of the site makes effort to make people welcome no matter what make or model vehicle they own.

the guy's IG feed is pretty dope.

I didnt' realize it was the same guy. Yeah, he's got IG down.

The entire innerned went to a subscription fee model, everyone sorta wants a month to month or join a club idea. It's hard to know what you're getting, but I think mud is a good value for spend. I will join fairly soon.

i had not even looked at the site until now. I have watched a bunch of his you tube videos which were ok nothing great. I couldn't figure out what the membership got you other than the "emblem".

You get to call yourself a member, duh.

There are a lot of artsy photo instagrammers peddling product and a club. Rarely do I see any that understand product or have a real leverage in value.

Hey all,

I'm Michael from Overland Bound. I joined Ih8mud in 2010, bought the premium account and really appreciate this community! It's awesome.

It looks like we haven't done a very good job at explaining what Overland Bound is all about, but let me take a crack at it.

We support and promote vehicle dependent travel, or "overlanding". Our goal is to provide the resources and information to outfit and explore safely and responsibly. This information will always be free. You'll note, there are no ads on our forums.

It's something I grew up doing. I feel adventure and nature is the key to living. It should be easy for anyone who wants to do it. Support and safety are really key, and to that end, our members are ambassadors, helpers, and hosts to other overlanders. If you see that badge, you have a friend on the road that will help you. We ask that our members agree to this.

Our goal is to build the largest overland network in the world, and connect each other through our passion for our vehicles and adventure. I know this sounds lofty, but I'm totally serious. Currently, our member map (one of the benefits of being a member) is growing quickly.

In terms of the membership cost, that basically pays for the badge - a damn solid piece of metal we're fairly proud of :) Really active members to buy t-shirts, hats, etc, and that basically pays for our efforts.

So far, this has been one of the most rewarding endeavors in my life, and I honestly never knew it would grow so quickly and so big. I'm really looking forward to what the future holds!

I'm going to take your feedback and incorporate your thoughts into better messaging. I want it to be super clear what we are all about.

And of course, we would love to have you on the crew! Great Questions @El Cid @socalmtbiker

Thank you!

Michael
